Climate change intensifies extreme events, massively impacting economies and populations. GHG emissions, rising with a new record in 2023, worsen these risks for decades. In Europe, the impact is considerable: 1.5 million SMEs, 190 million employees, and 450 million inhabitants.

To assess exposure to climate risks, vulnerability scores exist, similar to credit scores. But they are too simplistic (a letter, a color), whereas climate risks are multi-dimensional (heat, cold, floods…) and geolocated.

These risks largely affect the economy: reduced productivity, disrupted supply chains, damaged production assets. Employee health and safety are threatened. Banks are preparing to integrate climate risk into credit costs. The CSRD regulation will require 60,000 companies to disclose their risk exposure throughout their value chain. Many assets risk becoming uninsurable without adaptation.

An urgent need emerges: a comprehensive and accessible measurement tool to identify, quantify, and enable action against these risks. This is where Tardigrade comes in, combining climate expertise, entrepreneurial success, and AI skills.
