For 50 years the NCC has supported dietary assessment by providing software and services. The NCC distributes and supports Nutrition Data System for Research (NDSR), a dietary analysis software application widely used in nutrition research for the collection and coding of 24-hour dietary recalls and the analysis of food records, menus, and recipes. NDSR is considered by many to be the gold standard for dietary assessment in nutrition research. The NCC also maintains a comprehensive, curated, high-quality food and nutrient database that app developers and researchers license for a variety of purposes. The NCC Food and Nutrient Database includes about 19,000 foods and 178 nutrients, nutrient ratios, and other food components. We provide a variety of services including NDSR training and certification, collection of telephone 24-hour dietary recalls, and entry of food records.
