The Climate Change Unit CCU, operating under the Ministry of Water and Environment, serves as Yemen’s official focal point to the UNFCCC and its Climate Finance Mechanisms and leads the country’s national and international climate change efforts. It plays a central role in coordinating actions on adaptation and mitigation, enhancing institutional and technical capacities, and facilitating collaboration with both national stakeholders and international partners. CCU is responsible for preparing national reports, developing and submitting climate finance proposals, supporting the implementation of climate projects, and formulating national and sectoral policies and strategies that align with global climate commitments and meet Yemen’s national priorities. It also represents the country in international negotiations and processes, while promoting awareness, education, and stakeholder engagement across all sectors to strengthen the national response to climate change.
