Spanning 862 square miles and home to over half a million people, County Durham is a region rich in history, resilience, and potential.
As we look to the future, there is a powerful opportunity to set the gold standard and reshape the way people, organisations, and communities collaborate—creating a more equal, sustainable, and prosperous region for all.
The County Durham Pound project is a collective effort. Backed by 10 Partners organisations who represent some of the largest and most impactful organisations within the County and a Supporter network that share the ethos of collaboration to maximise place-based social value.
Designed to unlock long-term social, economic, and environmental value—known as social value—across the county. Whether through ethical procurement, responsible employment practices, or the way we distribute funding, our 15 Board members’ shared goal is to ensure that every pound spent in County Durham delivers the greatest possible benefit to local people and places.
Let’s make every pound count—for today, and for generations to come
