A voluntary Vessel Speed Reduction (VSR) program to help the world’s largest shipping lines and companies that rely on them implement responsible shipping practices to reduce: lethal ship strikes on endangered whales, regional greenhouse gas emissions, and air and noise pollution. With seasonal, predictable slow speed zones, BWBS helps companies reduce supply chain biodiversity impacts. Cooperation rates and environmental benefits are independently verified, and program participants receive recognition and press to encourage further adoption of more sustainable shipping practices.
