To address the urgent need of keeping global warming to well below 2, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels, we will need ~ 10 Gigatonnes of carbon removal annually at a planetary scale. Nature based solutions are one of the best and scalable ways of achieving this with additional benefits of improving biodiversity and supporting local communities. We are working with smallholder farmers in India to enable them to build carbon projects using tech and AI algorithms that will deliver quality, transparency and traceability.
At NBC Framework, we want to reimagine the way existing ecosystem functions – Democratising access to carbon markets such that even smallholder farmers can participate in the carbon markets. This will not only unlock the potential of the carbon markets but transform lives of millions of farmer communities, improve local biodiversity and soil quality.
