Nexus for Development is an international non-profit whose mission is to urgently mobilize carbon and impact finance scale enterprise in Asia that benefit both people and planet.

Launched in 2009, the Singapore registered, Cambodia based organisation was established to create a more equitable and accessible carbon market.

Established in the 90s the carbon markets came with high transaction costs, complex methodologies, and inequitable financial risks. This combination was hindering the ability of development organisations to effectively access carbon finance and leverage the full power of the carbon markets.
Nexus emerged in response to these challenges – supporting project developers by breaking down barriers to entry.

Since 2009 we have unlocked over $21 million to support 42 projects across 6 countries in Southeast Asia. We have expanded beyond carbon finance, to include impact investing into our offer. We have helped climate enterprises that support women and other marginalized groups in Asia access additional sources of climate funds. We have proudly been on the ground since day 1, working closely with project partners to ensure they are delivering and tracking their significant environmental and social benefits and that we as a trusted player can confidently report on the quality of our projects to our funders and carbon buyers.

We continue to work closely with key development stakeholders, and our impact investors including PhiTrust, UN Women, UN Environment, SNV, IDE and more and we have close relationships with corporate carbon credit buyers, carbon brokers, and of course the enterprises we help finance.

Together we have a vision of a world where climate finance delivers a sustainable and equitable future for all.
