DesignBuilder incorporates EnergyPlus, the award-winning, dynamic, whole-building simulation engine developed and maintained by the US Department of Energy (USDOE). EnergyPlus predicts building greenhouse gas emissions and occupant thermal comfort. It is one of a very few simulation engines that integrates heat and mass balance calculations, and can accurately predict free-floating temperatures in Naturally Ventilated spaces.
In Australia, energy simulation with DesignBuilder can be used for NCC compliance – JV3 (commercial, Vol 1) and VURB (residential, Vol 2), GreenStar energy credits and NABERS risk management.
