I am writing on behalf of the Global Carbon Reward (GCR) project, administered by Inquiring Systems, Inc., a non-profit organization with a 45-year history of advancing sustainability initiatives. We are seeking your support to publish and promote a new climate policy—called a “carbon reward”— that we believe marks a significant breakthrough in economic theory and policy for achieving the main goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Our new policy paper introduces a novel market instrument — called a “carbon reward” — underpinned by a central bank-guaranteed price floor. The market instrument is designed to mobilize private capital at scale and address the systemic barriers that have limited effective climate action. The approach reconceptualizes the market failure in carbon by tackling both unpriced ‘damages’ and unpriced ‘systemic risks,’ areas that traditional economic models have not adequately addressed.
As a small non-profit, our resources and reach are limited. To ensure this policy receives the attention and critical discussion it deserves, we are reaching out to build a coalition of think tanks, organizations, and experts. Our aim is to coordinate a public release and press statement that will spark expert dialogue around the new policy and its underlying economic theory.
