The Waste2Bio initiative is interested in the rehabilitation of brownfields in response to multiple societal challenges: climate change, the decline of biodiversity, zero land take and the increasing competition for the allocation of land to different uses.
Waste2Bio aims at an economic and environmental revalorization of abandonned lands (brownfield, remediated abandoned land, …) through innovative solutions of phytomanagement ensuring ecological functions and/or an exploitation of the plant biomass.
The network gathers Walloon actors intervening at all levels of the value chain: land managers, policy makers, researchers, academics, service providers, farmers, biobased companies…), trainers and citizens .
