The Sustainable Finance Group is a student led organization at Columbia University that advances sustainability in capital markets through three branches: Portfolio Management, Research, and Professional Development. Within Portfolio Management, members manage a live investment portfolio, involved in every aspect of the process, including security selection, financial modeling, risk assessment, and performance optimization. The Research branch produces equity reports and conducts industry and market analyses of macroeconomic dynamics across renewable energy, grid-scale storage, sustainable mobility, circular supply chains, and industrial decarbonization. It also publishes opinion pieces on carbon markets, investment strategies, and climate-tech innovations to inform portfolio decisions. Through Professional Development, members connect with industry leaders and explore career paths via speaker series, panels, and hands-on workshops.
